Elegant Engagement Party Ideas
Our future son-in-law proposed to our daughter on New Year’s Eve. He planned a very beautiful party for the same evening. We were thrilled to help him carry out his vision for the engagement party. We hope his party with these elegant engagement party ideas will inspire you as you plan your own party.
Two of our kids have gotten engaged in the last 4 months, so we have been doing a lot of engagement partying. Here is a post showing the more casual Backyard Engagement Party we gave for our son and his fiancee.

This party took place on New Year’s Eve in Dallas, Texas.
Elegant Engagement Party Ideas: Choose the location for your engagement party
Our son-in-law-to-be reserved the beautiful Marie Gabrielle Restaurant and Garden in Dallas, Texas. It was perfect and our daughter was thrilled. I would describe the room as modern elegant – concrete floors and crystal chandeliers.

Elegant Engagement Party Ideas: Food and Drink
He booked a full bar service which, of course, included champagne. We snacked on passed mini taco and mini hamburger hors d’oeuvres.
Elegant Engagement Party Ideas: Decorations
The venue was so lovely that it did not require a lot of decorations. Our daughter’s fiance put us in charge of setting up the spot where he would ask her to marry him. He showed us a picture of what he was thinking and we arrived early to make sure it was perfect. We also did the table decor and had a welcome sign made.
Decorating the Proposal Site
The picture he showed me had 67 candles arranged around a spot. I know there were 67 because I counted them! I purchased 9 sets of battery-operated candles on Amazon to add to the 2 sets he had purchased, which gave us a total of 55 candles. I also used some lanterns that normally live on my front porch.
I use these same battery-operated candles on my front porch year round. They come with a remote control. You can set them to come on at the same time each night and stay on for 6 hours. The batteries last a year when set with the timer, but yes, 55 AA batteries is a lot of batteries.

Elegant Engagement Party Ideas: Table Decor and Welcome Sign
I had a gorgeous black acrylic sign made on Etsy. The sign turned out beautifully, but there is a lot of reflection in pictures. Don’t forget to get an easel for your sign.
Dylan gave us pictures in frames to display and we used them along with flowers and these too-cute engagement ring signs – also from Etsy. We bought flowers at Trader Joe’s and arranged them in vases I already owned. Be sure to get floral foam and adhesive floral tape if you want the rings to stay in the vases.
I also bought some black and gold napkins with bows on them from The Party Darling Shop. They are my go-to for all things party paper goods.

We had a delightful and elegant evening celebrating the happy couple and are excitedly planning the wedding!
