My Turning 60 Bucket List
It doesn’t seem that long ago I wrote a turning 50 Bucket List, and here I am in 2026 writing a Turning 60 Bucket List!!! I will be 60 in 2 1/2 years. Oh my! I am definitely not a particularly adventurous person. One of the reasons I make this list is to challenge myself to learn, accomplish, and experience new things and to make sure I don’t become a stuffy old person who is afraid of everything.
I hope my list will help you as you make your own Turning 60 (or 50 or 100) Bucket List.

My Turning 60 Bucket List: Things to Learn
I am an enneagram 5 so I love to learn. At 57 I want to make sure I continue my love of learning. Here are my ideas:
- Continue learning Spanish. We will make our 8th trip to Guatemala in July 2026 for a medical mission trip. I room patients and do not have a translator. I am also a runner and take patients to other areas of the clinic. My Spanish has gotten better, but I only use it one week out of the year, so it stays pretty rough. I am not sure when I will consider it “good enough.” Probably never. I use Pimsleur and Duolingo to practice.
- I would not say I “want” to learn this, but I am going to have to. The theme our website uses is called DIVI and they have published a major major major new version and we will have to switch our website over to it soon. At some point they will stop supporting the version we are on and we will have to switch to the new version.
My Turning 60 Bucket List: Things to Accomplish
NEXT PHASE PARENTING AND WRITING:
- Together with Mel write 50 blog posts to bring our total number of posts to 300.
- Finish the murder mystery book I am writing and self-publish it. (This is a biggie for me. I have started and not finished several books.)
- Host the 2026 Back to School Bundle.
DOG TRAINING WITH REMMIE:
- Earn the UACH (United Agility Champion) title with my dog Remmie through the UKC. We have earned the Beginner and Intermediate titles and it will take a long time and lots of lots of trials to earn the 100 points for the UACH title. Remmie loves jumping!!

- Enter an AKC agility trial. We have not ventured into AKC agility yet.
- Remmie is my #1 “hobby.” We had always had dogs, but I had never done formal training. Once you start, you get hooked, so we also participate in AKC obedience trials. We have earned our AKC Beginner and Novice Obedience titles. We are taking “Open” classes right now. The skills for Open are a big step up from what we have been doing, so it will be a while before we get our Open title. I would like to pass at least one leg of an Open title by the time I turn 60.
- Before we accomplish the leg of an Open title, we will compete in Preferred Novice. I want to accomplish earning our AKC Preferred Novice title.
OTHER:
- Complete at least 260 workouts. This is approximately 2 per week.
- Organize the rest of our photo library: This is a hold over from my turning 50 list. We have gotten most all of our old photos digitalized, but there is still more to do, especially in the organizing department.
- Make the Championship Match with my Mahjong team in our league. (We came in last in the Spring 2026 league, so no, we did not advance to the Championship Match night.)
- I do not aspire to be much of a golfer. I only want to chip and putt around when I go with my husband. I have taken one session of Operation 36. My goals for golf are:
- Pass Operation 36 at 25 yards
- Pass Operation 36 at 50 yards
- Read 10 books from 1,000 Books to Read Before You Die. I read all the time, so I don’t need to put my regular reading on my list. I want to challenge myself with some classics and other important works that I tend to avoid in favor of mysteries.
My Turning 60 Bucket List: Things to Experience
- Visit Tikal National Park in Guatemala: 7 trips to Guatemala and so far we have not been. We already have our plane flights and other reservations to check this site off our travel bucket list in July 2026. Tikal is the largest architectural site of the Mayan civilization. I’m very excited! DONE!!
- Visit 3 states I have not been to. Here are the ones I lack:
- Connecticut
- Delaware
- Maine
- Montana
- Michigan
- Minnesota
- Nebraska
- New Hampshire
- North Dakota
- Oregon
- Rhode Island
- South Dakota
- Vermont
- West Virginia
- Wisconsin
- See my son Ethan get married (October 2026!!)
- See my daughter Abby get married (March 2027!!)
- Host Ethan’s rehearsal dinner
- Host Abby’s wedding!! (We are working away on this one. It’s a lot!)
- Go to the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. We already have our tickets!
When I made my Turning 50 Bucket List, I made sure there were 50 items. I decided to forgo an exact number for my Turning 60 Bucket List. It’s not important how many things you learn, accomplish, or experience, it’s the journey of doing them. I will keep this list updated and let you know which ones I have checked off.
