Taco Tuesday Care Package: Gather Your Supplies

Gather these supplies to create your Taco Tuesday Care Package.

One of the cool things about tacos is you can put anything in them. But not spaghetti. My son once lived out his fantasy of making spaghetti tacos (something he and his friends had seen on iCarly). He said that was not too good. Other than that… anything. Fish, chicken, ground beef, all veggies. Whatever you like.

Tailor the Taco Tuesday Care Package to your college student’s likes.

Below are the items I included in the Taco Tuesday Care Package for my son. When preparing a care package, I usually start looking for items at Target while I am doing my usual grocery shopping. It was an easy care package to fill because all of the items I included were grocery items. If you would like to get more creative with party supplies and other items for Cinco de Mayo, places to look are Amazon for cute party supplies and other fun items, Etsy for done-for-you care packages, Michael’s, the Dollar Store, party stores, and anywhere you shop for groceries and household items.

Here are some ideas:

Supply List:

White Cardstock Paper

Taco Fixings – taco seasoning and taco shells

Taco Sides – like Spanish Rice and refried beans

Colorful Taco Holders

Taco Kitchen Towels

Chips and Salsa

Rotel and Velveeta for Queso

A grocery gift card to get the meat and other perishables

Another helpful item is a paper cutter to cut out the tags and the box decorations. The paper cutter is especially helpful if you are having other moms over to create care packages.

Taco Tuesday Care Package: Prepare your Items

The first thing every taco care package needs is taco making supplies like taco seasoning, taco shells, and some Spanish rice to go on the side.

My kids LOVE queso. The easiest way to make it is to dump a block of velveeta and a can of Rotel tomatoes into a crockpot.

You also need some salsa. The only problem with salsa is that it normally comes in a glass jar. I wrapped the jar in bubble wrap to send.

A 13 oz bag of chips will fit in a medium flat rate box from the post office.

Taco Tuesday Care Package: Assemble Your Box

  • Print the box decorations from the New Year of Care Package Printables.
  • Tape or glue your box printables. I scotch tape mine to the box. I know some people hot glue them, but they don’t have to stay on the box forever, so tape works fine for me.

The items fit in a medium flat rate box perfectly. You can see the bubble wrapped salsa in the taco care package.

The box is ready to go with the chips on top. I was just able to close the taco care package and tape it shut to be mailed.
